The University of New South Wales Marketing Society (MarkSoc) was founded in 2003 as a constituent society to provide all marketing students from the School of Marketing, UNSW, with a voice. We sought to provide our members with the competative edge in the workforce through enhancing student competencies academically and with industry-experience.

Our society provides the link between the driven marketing students, the School of Marketing and private organizations.

Casual Marketing Assistant

Are you a creative ideas person with commercial savvy and great communication and project coordination skills?

This is an exciting opportunity for 2 non-final year students of marketing/PR (or equiv. experience) to help shape the direction of UNSW Careers and Employment marketing strategy for 2012.

This is a 75 hour (5 week) casual paid casual position, working 15 hours a week, that involves the following:

- Evaluating the impact of previous branding and marketing strategies used by C&E
- Conducting research into online social media for commercial purposes
- Coming up with innovative proposals for new marketing approaches 
- Coming up with a specific marketing campaign for the 2012 careers expo 
- Presenting a detailed report of findings and initiatives
- Liaising effectively with C&E staff, students and volunteers to gather information for the the project
- Coordinating the entire project from start to finish

To apply for the position you must meet the following selection criteria:

• Non final year student of Marketing/PR or with practical experience in marketing projects or campaigns
• Ability to come up with creative and innovative solutions to deliver messages in a compelling way
• Self starter with initiative and organisational skills to drive a project from start to finish
• Ability to engage students and staff in gathering relevant information
• Ability to conduct in depth online research and identify and incorporate relevant knowledge
• Commercial awareness
• Knowledge of how online social networks can be used for business purposes
• Ability to understand the strategic aims of Careers and Employment
• Skills in creating verbal and written reports to a high standard
• Ability to work independently, with others, and coordinate a team

Marksoc AGM

Hey Marksoc Members,

Hope the semester is going well!

Due to several Marksoc members graduating halfway through this year, and an Arc requirement for another AGM this Semester, Marksoc will be running another AGM next week (Wednesday the 20th of April) to vote in Executive, give an update about our progress for the year.

NB: this AGM will now replace the AGM that was to be held after the event this week on the 13th due to time constraints.

Location: Quad 1042
Date: Wednesday 20th April, 5-6 pm

Refreshments will be provided.

So come and give your support to Marksoc, we hope to see you there!

Teach For Australia

Teach For Australia is part of the successful Teach For All network. The program takes outstanding graduates from across all degree disciplines, trains them as exceptional teachers and inspirational leaders and places them for two years in disadvantaged schools. It has corporate partnerships with the likes of the Boston Consulting Group, the Business Council of Australia, Ernst and Young, Stockland, Microsoft, Google and KPMG.

Top 10 Trends Event

Top 10 Trends is a marketing event about the trends in marketing targeted at young professional women which benefit a lot of the students and the marketing department as a whole. The function will be run a host and guest speakers who have been very successful in their own career paths. It will be a great networking opportunity for many students and definitely a chance to hear the inspirational stories that the speakers have to offer.
